I created The Girl Can Bake for two reasons: to connect people through delicious food and help teach people the fundamentals of baking.
Welcome to The Girl Can Bake! I’m Olivia. I’m so happy you stopped by!
About me: Growing up I always loved to bake, but when I took Home Ec in middle school I found a passion for it. I started baking frequently at home, teaching myself more and more complex techniques. After I graduated college with a Bachelor’s in neuroscience, I decided to go to culinary school with a focus on pastry. I started a blog in culinary school, which was mostly to update my family and friends on what I was learning each week. I fell in love with blogging and decided to launch a new blog after I graduated. I now work full-time as a pastry baker. I currently live in San Francisco with my boyfriend and our two black cats, Balthazar and Minerva, but I am originally from just outside Chicago.
Things I like: Harry Potter, theatre, dancing, and Christmas
Things I don’t like: the fact that a truly left-handed cookie scoop doesn’t exist (why cruel, cruel world?), being stuck behind someone who walks slowly, and the sadness you feel after finishing a book.
About this blog: I created The Girl Can Bake for two reasons: to connect people through delicious food and help teach people the fundamentals of baking.
Food has always been a major part of my life. I grew up in a home of foodies. Many family vacations have revolved around where we’re eating and we plan what we are going to eat for dinner while we are still eating lunch. (I promise we still enjoy the food we are eating!) Good food brings people together and one of the goals of this blog is to help bridge connections between people through delicious recipes. Some of my best memories with family and friends are making and enjoying great food together.
The second major goal of this blog is to help people learn to bake. Whether you are a complete novice or just looking to expand your repertoire, you have come to the right place! People tell me all the time that they can’t bake. I don’t believe that’s true —if you want to learn to bake, I promise that you can. And I am here to help you! If you try out any of my recipes, I’d love to know! Leave a comment or find me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
